For The Single Moms
This letter was written by Macy Doss, the daughter of Robyn Doss who is a CK in Wilmington, North Carolina. Our hope and prayer is that every CK mother who reads this and struggles with life raising children alone will be encouraged. We know it's hard. We've been there. Don't give up.
To The Single Mamas who want to give up, who want to quit, who feel alone, and who just need some encouragement:
My heart this past week has been focused on y’all, and how amazing you all are. You do so much with so little recognition and encouragement, and so my heart for my blog tonight is to encourage you beautiful, and strong ladies.
For the past eight years my mama has been a single mommy raising three teenagers by herself. I never understood how hard it was on her until a few days ago. She has been through so much in the last eight years, and she hid her pain from me; I never knew her hurt or her struggles because she was always focused on taking care me and raising me into the woman I am today. I don’t know what it is like to be a mama, and I won’t know for several years, but I know your job is not easy. I can’t imagine having to raise a child on my own. However, I want you to know how valuable you are, and what amazing women you are. You are not alone.
Even though you might have awful days and feel like giving up, God is right by your side cheering you on and fighting for you. You are strong and courageous women and are doing an amazing job raising your kids. I want my life to be an example of how amazing each of you are. My mama is a special lady, and the best mama out there, but she is also a praying mama. If it wasn’t for her disciplining me and guiding me, I wouldn’t be here writing to you today.
Whenever my mama felt like giving up, she would pray and she would pray hard for me and my siblings. By her prayers and God’s grace, I never did drugs, never drank, never got involved with boys, and as years went on, I fell more in love with my Abba, Father.
Ladies, don’t give up and don’t quit. Your job is so important and it’s impacting lives every day. I know this season isn’t easy, but don’t lose hope. Let my life be a testimony to you and your kids, that you can do it. Keep praying and keep pushing on; rely on God’s strength to help you. He is with you every step of the way, guiding you and helping you parent your kids. You are so valuable and don’t ever forget it.
Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. (Proverbs 31:29)
Love,
The daughter of a Single Mama
