'He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” '
Matthew 28:6-7
Resurrection Sunday has such significance. On this day, Jesus Christ conquered the grave and provided all of us definitive proof that the name of Jesus Christ is the name above all names. There is nothing He cannot conquer. Even death could not hold him.
I’m so thankful for that. For me, it is not a platitude. It's so much more than a polite Christian thing to say on Easter. I’ve seen true resurrection power in my personal life and on this day in 2012, I experienced resurrection power in my heart and marriage. On this day 9 years ago, Jesus conquered death (of my marriage) and began our restoration.
It’s important to understand that the world would have us believe that we are supposed to celebrate Easter. Pastel clothing, beautiful bonnets, and ham dinner with our family are all important ways we celebrate Easter. However, it is so much more than that. What I believe we are supposed to do is “take in Easter”. It is supposed to stretch our faith. It is a day we make an agreement with the power of the resurrected Lord and have it change us forever. We are to take in that Jesus has the final say in our lives and we are to believe that Jesus can conquer anything - even our “dead” marriage.
I can tell you that just a year before Deana and I began our restoration journey, I was far away from the Lord. Like Lazarus, I was dead (spiritually) and in the tomb. Divorce papers were already drawn up by the attorney and I had conviction to terminate our marriage. I was so deceived that I actually believed that I was getting divorced for Deana’s benefit so she wouldn’t have to suffer the rest of her life being married to such a wretched man.
On Easter, I encountered the resurrected Jesus. Inexplicably, He called me to invite Deana and the children with me to church. I didn’t want to do it but something in me was coming to life and it was pushing out the darkness that had held me in the tombs. The rest is history. From death to life. From imminent divorce to Pastor. Only the resurrection power of Jesus Christ could accomplish that!
As I look back at the things that began to soften my heart, I can remember that having access to positive, encouraging messages was so important. Good and godly men brought good things into my life including Jesus Calling, Joyce Meyer, and Elevation Church. What was common amongst all those things was that it was portable, always with me and whenever I needed encouragement, they were only a click away.
That is the motivation behind our Resurrection Sunday announcement. Covenant Keepers, Inc. is pleased to launch the new Covenant Keepers Mobile App available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon App Store! Our new mobile app is free to download to your favorite mobile device and it gives you access to exclusive content not available anywhere else.
